The following are the notes from our guide, Michael T. Pedersen, we hired to research our family's history in Malmo and to be our driver during our tour of Copenhagen and Malmo.
"Scott's father, Yngve Oscar Lindgren was born in Sankt Johannes Parish in Malmo. In the parish's birth and baptismal he stated to have been born on 1910-02-22. He is also said to have had a brother named Rickard Haqvin Lindgren who was born on 1908-05-17."
"Scott's grandfather is named in the church registers as Oskar Haqvin Lindgren. He was born in 1883-12-15 in Cartoll Parish in Malmo. On 1907-4-08, he married Ida Natalia nee Malmberg, who was born on 1887-05-10 in Pauli Perish in Malmo."
"Oskar Haqvin Lindgren is stated to have been a bricklayer by profession, and I have been able to see that being mustered out he served in the Swedish navy in 1902. Before he became a bricklayer, he is stated to have held the profession of carpenter-journeyman. He was the son of Carpenter Master Per Lindgren, born 1847-08-23 in Sundstorp in today's Kungsbacka municipality outside Gothernburg. His wife was Johanna Mansdotter, born 1856-02-12 in Franninger in today' Sjovo municipality."
"Ida Natalia Lindgren/Malmberg's parent were Nile Malmberg, born 1860-03-13 in Lockaer parish and Ida Hakansson, born 1866-04-21 in Asarum in Bleckinge county."
"In the police chambers in Malmo's emigration list it appears that Oskar emigrated on 1911-06-06 with the ship RMS Cedric or SS Laurentic with a destination of Quebec. Ida and he two sons emigrated to Edmonton on 192-11-26 with the ship RMS Teutonic."
"Before the family moved to Canada, they lived in the Laxen neighborhood. The exact address is not clear, but the Laxen neighborhood is in central Malmo between Sodra forstadsgatan Brogatan and Kasinogatan. Several of the older houses have unfortunately been demolished but at Sodra forstadsgatan 36-38 the older houses in the neighborhood have been preserved." (This is the neighborhood we visited.)
Prior to Dick and Oscar being born, "I have been able to see the Oskar and Ida during the period I researched, 1890-1912, lived in the Blenda, Krakan and Vessin neighborhoods which are all located in the area that are today called Mollevangen and Radmansvangen. The Blenda neighborhood consist of small buildings complex located between Sodra forstadsgatyan, Fricksgatan, Clesgatan and Sparvagsgsgatan. The Krakan neignborhoon is located between Sodra Forsttadsgatan, Sodra Skolgatan, Mollvansgagatan and Smedjegatan. The Vessein neighborhood is located between Nikolaigatan, Sodra Forsttadsgatan, Mollvansgagatan and Smedjegatan."
